World Green Building Week 2017

Floth was excited to participate in World Green Building Week 2017, with participants invited to consider how we could “Make our hero zero”.

As part of the week’s activities, visitors were invited to a site tour at Floth’s head office in Fortitude Valley, the first building in Australia to meet the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council’s (ASBEC) standard definition of a zero carbon building.

Anthony Marklund represented Floth as a foundation member of the Property Council of Australia (PCA QLD) Committee for Cities and was invited to appear as a witness at a public hearing before the House Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities.

The committee is currently inquiring into, and reporting on, the Federal Government’s role in sustainability transitions in existing cities and regional centres and the potential to grow new sustainable cities and towns. Anthony sat alongside PCA QLD Deputy Executive Director Ms Jen Williams and other participating experts from Griffith University in a roundtable-style discussion with the committee on 29 September in Brisbane’s Parliamentary Annexe.

A full transcript of the proceedings, which were also live broadcast on ABC internet radio, is available here.
