At Home Penrith is a 33,000m2 homemaker centre, containing over 30 major retailers including Anaconda, Spotlight, Clive Peters and number of specialty stores.

Floth was appointed as the mechanical and electrical engineers for the upgrade of the existing shopping centre. The client brief tasked Floth to achieve a contemporary design, improve the shopping experience for guests, and improve the overall energy efficiency of the building.

Improvements to the existing box type metal halide lighting fixture system (typically associated with industrial installations) were identified, and led to a total upgrade of the internal lighting to a highly efficient fluorescent downlight system. The new downlight system achieved significant energy savings, provides better quality light, achieved a significant reduction in glare, and compliments the precinct’s architectural features.

Improvements to the aesthetics of the building have also been achieved, removing the stark feel of the shopping centre and creating a softer feel complimenting the architectural features.

To accommodate tenants and their individual operating hours, Floth modified the air conditioning system, eliminating the tenant’s reliance on the central system to supply their stores with air-conditioning.
