PROJECT

Floth was engaged by Watpac to deliver ten green field school projects in Southeast Queensland. The projects were delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the Queensland Department of Education and the Plenary Consortium. Eight new primary schools and two new high schools are now established in the following areas, as a result of this initiative.

SPECIAL ENGINEERING FEATURES
  • Typical classrooms incorporate operable clerestory windows to maximise natural ventilation opportunities and daylight penetration to minimise reliance on air-conditioning & daylight penetration.
  • Localised controls in conjunction with occupancy sensors, after hours push buttons and override switches ensure lighting, ceiling fans and air-conditioning are only turned on when required and always turned off when not required.
  • Other sustainable features include extensive use of shading, rainwater harvesting and photo voltaic panels.
